A small window has opened, and today I can breathe.
We both finished up school last week for Christmas break. John has 3 weeks off, I have 2. It is a wonderful feeling to have time to do anything else. After school ended we had a weekend full of Christmas. I spent Friday and Saturday morning finishing up my gifts. Friday night we had a great time at our UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER PARTY with friends from my school at Sara's. It was complete with sangria, white elephants, and a Rockband showdown.
Saturday night was the extended family Hoekstra party. It was the craziest yet, with 5 great-grandchildren present this year. We all received lovely packages from Gram and Gramps...and Santa. It was great to see family that we really don't see too often.
And Sunday we celebrated Christmas with my immediate family. We do a name exchange, so it was really fun to see what everyone had picked out to give to their person. We then took the L downtown, walked for a while enjoying the lights of Michigan Avenue and ended with a delicious dinner at Maggiano's. YUM.
And now today I am going to relax and do nothing that requires any large amounts of energy. :)
Wednesday we leave for Pittsburgh!! See you soon, Mom and Dad!
peace.
