Adventures in the Park

Today we went on a bike ride to look at colorful trees.  We did see many colorful trees:

As we rode through a park, we spotted a little creature in the grass.  John said, with an evil voice, "I bet I could hit this groundhog," as he proceeded to pick up speed and ride his bike toward the creature.  "Poor thing," I thought.  BUT, THE CREATURE DID NOT MOVE!  This is most likely because John is not at all intimidating.
So, we carefully approached it, quickly realizing that it was not a groundhog at all!  In fact, we were not quite sure what it was.  We thought it may have been a beaver, but the tail was too long and not flat like a beaver tail.  We also thought it could have been a possum, but it lacked the pointy face.  It was certainly not a fearful creature, as I was able to gently kick its tail with my foot in order to get it to move.  It hopped away and down into its hole.
We continued on our ride, perplexed.  Upon our arrival at home, I sat down at the computer to do some research.  Turns out our little friend was a MUSKRAT!  This is pretty cool because neither of us had ever seen a muskrat before, and we never imagined that we would!

Yeah, Marcus? Who would have thought. Now we have another week of putting up with Ms. Olympian...the first one out of the "holding the sticks up" contest. Yikes.

Johnny, this is so funny. I told Dad about your pumpkin pics, so as he sat so I could show him them, I told him about you and Leah taking a walk in the woods and you seeing something weird. And he says, "What, slime?"

LOL. Omgosh. Slime. Now this is a private Baldauff funny moment, but John, you're free to share it with the rest of the free world if you want. LOL.

Leah, beware of finding odd things in the woods with John.
